Electric Gates
Bourne
Looking for electric gate installation in Bourne? We work with a trusted local fabricator covering the town and the surrounding villages — supplying and fitting swing gates, sliding gates, driveway automation and electric bollards.
A look at our work
Every gate we fit is made to measure for the property it goes on. Here is a small selection of recent installations — traditional and contemporary, swing and sliding.

Where the fen meets the limestone
Bourne sits on the line where the fen gives way to the limestone edge, and that geological boundary has a practical bearing on gate installation. To the east the ground is soft, peaty and holds water; to the west it firms up considerably. Post foundations that are perfectly adequate on one side of the town can be nowhere near deep enough on the other.
It matters because a gate post that moves, even slightly, throws the whole system out. Leaves stop meeting properly, safety edges lose their alignment, and motors work harder than they should. Getting the foundation right for the ground you actually have is unglamorous but it is the difference between a gate that still closes cleanly in ten years and one needing adjustment every winter.
The town has grown considerably over the past twenty years, with new development on the edges alongside the older centre and a ring of established village properties at Morton, Thurlby, Baston and Rippingale. Our installer covers all of it, and will assess ground conditions as part of the survey rather than assuming.

Do you install electric gates throughout Bourne?
Yes — our installer covers Bourne and the surrounding villages including Morton, Thurlby, Baston, Rippingale and Dyke, along with Market Deeping, Stamford and Spalding. If you are unsure whether your postcode is covered, send us an enquiry.
Does ground condition affect what a gate costs?
It can. Soft or waterlogged ground needs deeper, wider post foundations than firm ground does, and that means more excavation and more concrete. On the fen side of Bourne this is a genuine consideration. It is assessed at survey, which is one reason a quote given without a site visit is worth very little.
How quickly can I get a quote?
Once you submit an enquiry through our quote form, your local installer will typically be in touch within 24 to 48 hours. If you call our 24/7 message line directly you can often arrange a site survey sooner.
Do I need planning permission for electric gates in Bourne?
In most cases no — residential electric gates fall under permitted development rights in England. The main exceptions are gates over 1 metre adjacent to a highway, listed buildings, and properties in conservation areas. Our planning permission guide covers the rules in full.
What types of electric gate do you supply and install?
Electric swing gates, sliding gates, bi-folding gates, full driveway automation and automatic rising bollards, plus automation retrofits to existing gates where they are structurally suitable. Materials include steel, aluminium, wrought iron, timber and composite. All metalwork is fabricated in-house.
