Access control systems we install
Most installations combine two or more of these — for example, fobs for the household plus a video intercom for visitors. Your installer will recommend the right combination for your needs.
Remote fobs
The simplest form of access control. Small handheld remotes open the gate at the press of a button. Most systems support multiple fobs for different household members.
Keypad entry
Enter a numeric code to open the gate — no fob required. Useful for visitors, deliveries or properties with frequent different users. Codes can usually be changed easily.
Audio intercom
Two-way audio communication between visitor and homeowner, with a release button to open the gate remotely. The traditional choice for visitor management.
Video intercom Popular
Audio intercom plus a camera, so you can see who is at the gate before releasing it. Many systems link to a smartphone app so you can answer from anywhere.
Vehicle detection loop
An in-ground sensor that automatically detects an approaching vehicle and can trigger the gate to open, or hold it open while a vehicle is present.
Smartphone app control
Open, close and monitor your gate remotely from anywhere with an internet connection. Many systems support multiple users and activity logs.

Which combination is right for your property?
Fobs for the family plus an audio or video intercom for visitors covers the vast majority of residential needs at a sensible cost.
Add a keypad so regular visitors — cleaners, dog walkers, family — can enter without needing a fob, while you retain full control over who has the code.
A vehicle detection loop is useful where vehicles approach at speed or where you want the gate to open automatically without anyone pressing a button.
App control lets you manage access from anywhere — useful if you travel, have a holiday let, or simply want to let in a visitor without going to the door.
A combination of video intercom, keypad and vehicle detection is the most common specification, often paired with multi-user app access for staff.

Can I add a video intercom to my existing gate system?
In most cases yes — a video intercom can usually be added to an existing automated gate as long as the control system and power supply can accommodate it. Your installer will check compatibility during a site visit.
Does the smartphone app work if I'm away from home?
Yes — most app-controlled systems connect via your home WiFi and a cloud service, allowing you to open, close and monitor your gate from anywhere with an internet connection, not just when connected to your home network.
How many people can use the access control system at once?
This depends on the system specification. Basic systems typically support a handful of remote fobs. App-based systems can usually support multiple users with individual logins, each with their own access permissions and activity history.
What happens if the intercom loses internet connection?
Audio and video intercom functions that route through your home network will be affected if your internet connection drops, though basic gate operation via fob or keypad will continue to work as these don't depend on internet connectivity. Some video intercom systems also retain local recording even without an internet connection.
Can I give a delivery driver one-time access without a permanent code?
Many app-controlled systems allow you to generate temporary or one-time access codes, or to remotely open the gate when you see the delivery arrive via the video intercom. This is a common feature requested for busy households.
How much does a full access control system cost?
