A look at our work in Scotland
Every gate is made to measure for the property it goes on. Here is a small selection of recent installations by your local fabricator.
Holds its colour through Scottish winters with none of the annual treating timber needs.
Keypad, fob, intercom or phone app — specified around how the entrance actually gets used.
Slides parallel to the boundary, so a short driveway is no obstacle.
Nothing here is a standard size
Airdrie and Coatbridge grew up around ironworks and coal, and the housing reflects that history rather than any plan. Victorian and Edwardian villas on the better streets, terraced rows, interwar semis, postwar estates and modern infill, frequently all within a few hundred yards of each other.
What that means in practice is that very few entrances here are a standard size. Openings widened informally over decades, boundary walls rebuilt at some point in a slightly different position, piers that are not quite square to one another, ground that falls away across the entrance. A gate bought as a stock size and adjusted to fit will always look adjusted.
All of our fabricator's metalwork is made to measure rather than bought in, which is the whole answer to this. The opening gets measured properly, the gate gets drawn to suit it, and the result fits as though the entrance was built for it. On an older property that is the difference between a gate that looks right and one that looks bought.

Learn more →How much do electric gates cost in Airdrie?
There are enough variables in an electric gate that a single price would be misleading, so these are starting figures rather than ranges. Each one reflects a full-size double driveway gate — 2 metres or more per leaf, at intermediate specification — rather than the smallest thing that could be built.
Prices and minimum specifications vary by region and installer. A precise quote follows a site survey, which is free and carries no obligation.

Frequently asked questions about electric gates in Airdrie
My entrance is not square. Is that a problem?
No, but it needs measuring properly. Older properties frequently have openings that are out of square, on a slope, or wider at one side than the other. Because all metalwork is fabricated to measure rather than bought as stock sizes, the gate is made to suit the opening rather than the opening being altered to suit a gate.
Will my old boundary walls take a gate?
That is what a survey establishes. Walls of that age vary enormously in condition, and an electric gate applies considerably more load than a manual one through its operating cycle. Where the existing structure will not carry it, the options are new piers, independent steel posts set behind the wall, or a sliding gate which loads the ground differently.
Do you install electric gates throughout Airdrie?
Yes — our fabricator covers Airdrie along with Coatbridge, Caldercruix, Plains, Chapelhall, Calderbank and across to Cumbernauld.
Can you match the style of my property?
Yes. Bespoke fabrication means the design is drawn to suit rather than picked from a range. On a Victorian villa that usually means traditional metalwork in an open design; on a modern property, horizontal slats or composite infill. Send photographs with your enquiry and it can be discussed properly.
Do I need planning permission in Scotland?
Scotland has its own planning legislation. Broadly a gate adjoining a road may be no more than one metre without permission and two metres elsewhere, with listed buildings and conservation areas needing consent regardless. Our planning permission guide has a dedicated Scottish section.
